Vor der Kamera: Eine Szenerie, die mich zweifeln lässt, ob mir die Augen gerade einen Streich spielen. Der hohe Gehalt an Kalziumkarbonat färbt das Wasser in den Bergseen des Jiuzhaigou-Nationalparks in allen Farben des Regenbogens, und um die Ufer hat die Natur ein Kunstwerk geschaffen, dem selbst die Fotografien eines Profis nur im Ansatz gerecht werden können. Und hinter, neben und über der Kamera und auch sonst überall: Massen von Chinesen, welche den 72’000-Hektar-Nationalpark am Rande des tibetanischen Plateaus zu Zehntausenden besuchen. So spielen am Rande des Naturspektakels einige höchst bizarre Kulturclash-Episoden. Die Komödie gipfelt darin, dass wir 24 Stunden am bitterkalten Provinzflughafen festsitzen. Und von dem Gekritzel auf den Schildern verstehen wir nur Chinesisch. Wobei wir ja nicht einmal das verstehen…

In front of my camera there's a setting that makes me question if I can trust my eyes at all. The mountain lakes of Jiuzhaigou National Park shine in an incredible palette of colors going from sea-pink to green stain due to the high concentration of calcium carbonate. And the shores are a masterpiece of nature which not even the most professional photograph can capture adequately. Behind and around the camera and anywhere else there are tens of thousands of Chinese jaunting to the 72'000-hectare national park on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau. In the midst of this natural spectacle we experienced inconveniences like being stuck for twenty-four hours at the bitterly cold small local airport only understanding the symbols on the signs are Chinese which we don't understand.
